The Television Personalities er ute med sin første plate på lang tid. Hjernen bak prosjektet, Daniel Treacy, innledet på 1990-tallet en romanse med narkotiske stoffer, og han forsvant fra verdens overflate etter hvert som forholdet ble intensivert. Da tiden gikk og livstegnene uteble fra Treacy, gikk de aller fleste ut ifra at han var død (...) Og hvilket spektakulært comeback My Dark Places representerer. Albumet er et kakofonisk lappeteppe av 16 låter, der lydbildet på hvert enkelt bidrag er som en collage av innfall. Og det er denne herlig sjangerschizofrenien, med Treacys snublende vokal som en frekk topping, som er platenes sterkeste kort.".

utgivelse og en av popmusikkens virkelig store klassikere. Dens tidløse posisjon som inspirasjonskilde og referansepunkt for den gitarbaserte popmusikken er udiskutabel. Manchesterbandet The Smiths var på flere måter noe for seg selv - både i sin samtid og i sin ettertid. De tok publikum med storm med en formel av smektende pubertal bitterhet, lyriske lyskespark og tidvis avanserte, men fengende popmelodier. Gruppen var fanatisk antisynthorienterte, og var således et slags svar på datidens kalde synthpop og new wave. The Smiths var realister og romantikere på en og samme tid, båret fram av en gitarist som sto i perfekt oposisjon til sin tekstskribent og vokalistkollega (...)".

Patti Smith. Twelve. Columbia 2007.
"According to her brief liner notes, Patti Smith indulged the idea of a covers album, considering songs as far back as 1978 on the back pages of Jean Genet's Thief's draumir

Journal when she was still assembling her groundbreaking early catalog; it's evident she feels that covers have been part and parcel of her recording experience from the outset. Her debut, Horses, has her own apocalyptic version of Van Morrison's "Gloria" as well as a healthy portion of Chris Kenner's "Land of a Thousand Dances" inside "Land." On 1979's Wave she covered the Byrds "So You Want to Be (A Rock and Roll Star)," and scored with the single. Her intuitive reading of Bob Dylan's "Wicked Messenger" was a beautiful aspect of Gone Again in 1996, and she paid tribute to Allen Ginsberg by using one of his poems in "Spell," on 1997's Peace and Noise. And who can forget her reading of Pete Townshend's "My Generation" issued on the 30th Anniversary edition of Horses?".

Brian Eno. Another Green World. Virgin 1975.
"Critically acclaimed, the album marks a fundamental shift in Eno's musical expression, farther away from conventional song structure than ever before, and increasingly bizarre and eno

iconoclastic. This inevitably made the album less mainstream, and to some listeners less accessible, than his previous work. The album has fourteen tracks and only five with vocals. Many of these tracks laid the foundation for Eno’s future ambient career. Much of the album is accented by a mixture of an array of sounds mixed in the far background. The musical textures have been cited as a significant influence on David Bowie's 'Berlin Trilogy' (1977-79), upon which Eno collaborated. Though the album begins with a harsh, aggressive piece titled "Sky Saw", most of this album has a gentler approach than Eno’s previous works. The atmosphere is an unusual combination of whimsical humour and melancholy serenity, sometimes on the same track. (...) Pitchfork Media ranked the album number ten on their Top 100 Albums of the 1970s.".

Plateselskapet skriver: "Supersilent have been a solid cornerstone in Rune Grammofon since the very beginning and are seen by many as the very essence of the label. From the monumental

hardcore blizzard storms of "1-3" to the elegant electrojazz of "4" and the almost quiet soundscapes of "5", this new album is where the sum of all things Supersilent comes together in a shape of almost epic proportions. Like "1-3" and "Scorch Trio" it was recorded at Athletic Sound in Halden, Norway. More than ever it appears clear that their music lives in a no man's land between the genres, somewhere between rock, electronica, jazz and modern composition. As with all their recordings and live performances, everything here is improvised. That most of the music on "6" appears to be written or at least arranged, is testament to the high, almost telepatic level they work at . Needless to say, there are no overdubs. Often being labelled jazz because of the improvising aspect of the music and the fact that three of the members come from a jazz background, with "6" they are just as likely to attract followers of bands such as Goodspeed You! Black Emperor, Sigur Rós, King Crimson, (late) Talk Talk or Popol Vuh."

Aftenposten skriver: "Draumirs musikk er besnærende på så mange plan. Først og fremst har Draumir kommet opp med et knippe sterke og iørefallende melodier. Det er imidlertid hva de gjør med dem draumir

som gjør "The Island" så fengslende. Hør med hvilken følsomhet de utmeisler disse vakre musikalske tablåene. Musikken gir deg sjelefred, selv om selve atmosfæren i sangene kan oppleves ganske mørke. De er som få andre norske band. Et av elementene er det kontrastfulle samspillet vokalistene imellom, klangen av lys og mørke (...) Midnight Choir-produsent Chris Eckman har øre for hva som skal til. Lydbildet er tilpasset de ulike melodienes atmosfære. Det er som om sangene får egne vinger. Draumir dyrker det vakre og melankolske, men også det storslagne og nære med stort mesterskap."

"Sonic Youth is the debut EP by Sonic Youth. It was recorded in 1981 at Radio City Music Hall, New York City

and released on Glenn Branca's Neutral label in 1982. It is the only recording featuring the early Sonic Youth line-up with Richard Edson on drums. "Sonic Youth" is the only Sonic Youth release in which the guitars use standard tuning, yet this album is representative of their early experimental, No wave roots."
